About Janette Levin, LMSW

Sometimes life just feels like too much—pressure at work or school, relationships that feel complicated, or worries that never seem to quiet down. I’m here to listen, help you make sense of what’s going on, and figure out ways to feel a little lighter and more in control.

I support children, teens, adults, and couples who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or mentally overextended. Much of my work centers on anxiety, OCD, trauma, grief, and challenges with organization, focus, and follow-through. I take a trauma-informed, skills-based approach, integrating CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy, while tailoring our work to your goals, values, and lived experience. Sessions are designed to feel grounded and collaborative—responsive to what’s happening in your life, rather than rigid or prescriptive.

I received my MSW from Columbia University, where I specialized in Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities, and completed training in both clinical and research settings, including Mount Sinai’s Child & Adolescent Outpatient Clinic and the Center for Prolonged Grief. These experiences shaped my interest in how stress, illness, and loss affect emotional functioning, relationships, and the body—particularly in the context of medical trauma and oncology-related care.

Having grown up in New York City, I understand the pace and pressures that often come with living and learning here. I frequently work with families navigating the NYC school system, supporting children and teens through academic stress, transitions, and emotional regulation. I also work with adults and couples seeking support around communication, relationship patterns, and major life changes, including those related to health, caregiving, or grief.

My goal is to offer a space where you feel steady, understood, and supported as we work toward meaningful, sustainable change. Therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating or overwhelming—it can be a place to think, reflect, build skills, and feel less alone as you move forward.
